The Blame

Someone Else Caught the Blame

I saw my headlights headed south

That’s the wrong way from my house

Make it one more time that I felt the shame

I should have kept on moving on

But the rent needed paying at home

Once again I’ll have to take the blame

Darling there’s nothing left inside of me you can abuse

What little heart and mind I had, you’ll find you done used

Though the streets may be my home

And my world is all alone

At least someone else caught the blame

I should have known from the start

But in love I’m not that smart

You only wanted someone you could shame

As my candle of life burns low

And my love for you has slowed

Finally I’m not feeling any pain

Darling there’s nothing left inside of me you can abuse

What little heart and mind I had, you’ll find you done used

Though the streets may be my home

And my world is all alone

At least someone else caught the blame
