Little Man

Little Man

As I stand in the distance, my heart breaking into

Over one of our soldiers; that I never knew

His sacrifice for us, was not in vain

I pray God will let us all feel the pain

The men where dressed in colors

As the rifles fired again, planes flew formation

As she clutched his wedding band

White gloves did the folding of the Red, White and Blue

The notes from the trumpet, rang true

As they came to attention with the Flag in his hand

He turned and he handed it, to her little man

It was baseball and soccer; football was the new

His dad did everything to make his dreams come true

He gave up his drinking, his fishing with his friends

So he could walk the steps of life with his little man

The years flew by so quickly

As he watched his young child grow

He tried to answer all, the questions he wanted to know

He stood for right and wrong, he did not sway

Family, God and Country was his way

Then came the call to duty, and he knew he must go

As his little man was screaming, Daddy I love you so.

His hand touched his hat and he saluted his little man

And said son there are things, you don’t understand

I’ll be back before you know it; I’m leaving you in charge

Watch over our home, Moms garden and the yard

The men where dressed in colors

As the rifles fired again, planes flew formation

As she clutched his wedding band

White gloves did the folding of the Red, White and Blue

The notes from the trumpet rang true

As they came to attention with the Flag in his hand

He turned and he handed it, to her little man
